Custom Tuning
Did you know that even simple modifications such as the
addition of a cold air intake or exhaust system can change
your vehicle's factory drivability and even hurt the
performance of your vehicle? To make sure your vehicle is
performing properly with these types of upgrades, a custom
tune is required. We even recommend a tune if you change
airflow by more than 10%.
High horsepower add-ons such as superchargers, turbos, and
cam & head packages also require custom tuning in order for
your vehicle to support the large increase in horsepower and
torque.
We provide products and services that are designed to solve
these issues and allow you to optimize your vehicle's PCM
(Engine Management Computer) for these common performance
add-ons.
It is also possible to improve your stock vehicle's
performance with a custom tune. Some typical benefits
include:
-
Improved Throttle Response
-
Increased Torque and Horsepower
-
Increased Fuel Economy
-
Crisp Transmission Shifts
-
Optimized Shift Points (Shifting at the
correct speed)
What is a custom tune? It's a tune that is calibrated
specifically for your vehicle.
Here are just some of the significant things that we change
in the calibration:
-
Re-map Fuel, Ignition & Cam Timing
-
Change Transmission Shifting & Slip
Times
-
Lock Up Torque Converter
-
Change or Eliminate Torque Management
For Performance Applications
-
Change Knock Sensor Settings
Typical Street
Tunes (Economy/Performance Tunes) Start at $850
This 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with 8.1L
Allison transmission had shorty headers installed along with
a K&N cold air intake then was put on our dyno for a custom
tune. Results were 45 horsepower gain and 65 Ft/Lbs torque
gain with higher gains down low.
With these performance increases we were also
able to increase transmission durability. The converter no
longer slips, all shifts are short and crisp and the tow
haul mode is optimized so it no longer holds gears like it
did with the factory tune.
